Wellbeing – hard to define
Wellbeing is an all-embracing biological-psychological social construct that is not easy to define or measure. In 2011, Martin Seligman published his book “Flourish,” in which he presented his new and dynamic concept of wellbeing and broadened the theory that characterizes wellbeing purely as “happiness.” In his opinion, wellbeing is multidimensional and should have both hedonistic and eudaimonic aspects. Research has found that right after a creative workshop or a laughter therapy workshop, people had an increased productivity averaging 12 percent. The percentage of companies investing in wellbeing programs is increasing every year. Corporate wellbeing programs are no longer just a "fad", but a "must have". More and more companies want to be competitive. The commitment of the Swiss workforce is still a very clear weakness of the economy. This is shown by the figures of a Gallup study. Only 16% of employees feel involved, 76% are considered non-engaged and 8% are completely uninvolved. Criticism, fatigue and permanent pressure are part of everyday life for many people.
